Today we’re going to be talking all about how to start a blog in 2020. I’m going to speak to about the process of getting your blog started and actually be successful at it in 2020. Now with blogging things have changed quite a bit so before starting a blog you need to keep certain things in mind.
Today I will go over a few of those things and go into much more detail about the processes. One of the first things I would tell you to do is to do your research.
The best route to become a successful blogger, is just to go ahead and get started now, don’t get stuck with endless blog research.
Furthermore, don’t start procrastinating because you have all the questions you need answering, after you’ve done your research.
The next thing you need to do when starting your blog in 2020 is to start building an audience. Yes, you should look at building an audience on social media such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or whatever.
If you want to monetise your blog if that’s what you want to do, you cannot do that without an audience right?
So you need to start sharing the content of your blog that you want to share the your blog on social media.
So start to build an audience so that, when you’re ready to launch your blog.
You’ve had enough people that are already reading your and happy to consume your content.
Now with that being said, you need to know what you want to blog about, and I often tell people to think about something that comes really naturally to you. Something that you want to talk about all the time that interests you and your knowledgeable about.
I started talking about affiliate marketing, and internet marketing and blogging. But make sure it’s something that you don’t mind talking about for the long haul.
It’s fine to talk about other topics as well.
So the next step is to figure out what you want to talk about and, after you figure out what you want to talk about, you need to think about who you want to talk to.
It is so easy to hop on your blog and say: hey I want to talk about cookies or I want to talk about business. You actually need to know who really want to talk to. What are their pain points? How can you solve their problems?
So when I decided to start a blog in 2020, I really just wanted to talk to people who were interested in supplementing their income.
Then being able to work from home full-time. Now that has changed as I move forward, but when I started, I didn’t know SEO and catchy headlines and found it extremely hard to build a community.
I just got on here aimlessly talking about whatever, not knowing accurately who I wanted to talk to.
I’m going to talk about now how there are several ways to monetize a blog. Let me just say that, your blog should have different social media components. I have my actual blog website I do videos now on YouTube and I’m on Instagram.
Do that now, but all of those are an extension of my blog business, but you need to know how you want to monetise.
But knowing how you want to monetise is a really important step, here’s where how you want to monetise will come into play.
The next thing you’re going to do when you create a blog is to choose a blogging platform. Where is it you people want your blog to live?
WordPress is the king of blogs and websites. There are some people that never started their blog, and so they effectively built their audience on Instagram or YouTube.
I started my blog on WordPress. I feel it’s just the standard now you can do so many things on WordPress.
It gives me plenty of options that I can do with my website. I can customise it and do so many things and that’s why I entirely use WordPress.
When it comes to the monetising part of your blog next you’re, going to register your domain name now. It is what your blog is going to be called. Are you just going to go purchase a name in relation to what you’re going to be talking about?
Whatever it’s going to be, you need to purchase that domain name, and that is the wwwhatever com org or whatever it’s going to be.
So once you have selected that domain name make sure the social media handles are available to go with it after you’ve got the domain name all set up you want to choose hosting. This is one of the main things when I started my blog.
I bought my hosting from Siteground and I love this because everything is right with it. I was actually able to purchase the domain name with Siteground as well. It was one click to my WordPress blog site, so nothing too technical.
So I did it all on Siteground one stop shop to get my domain name, my hosting. Then this was easy to set up with WordPress all in one space.
This is the place that’s going to host your blog they’re going to hold all your documents. Make sure the blog is up and running smoothly for you.
Last of all you need a theme for your blog site there are literally thousands of themes. Though some may not be free.
All you have to do is customise and optimise it, for your audience. It’s important to remember that the look of the blog site should reflect your audiences tastes not necessarily your own.
If you can please share this post with someone who is interested in starting a successful blog in 2020.
